History of the Broadway Musical
Taught by BRT's Amy and Ken Kaissar
Wednesday, Feb 10, 17, 24 at 7pm
Series Cost: $50
Class size: Unlimited
Three sessions, each class runs 60 minutes via Zoom.
Fiddler on the Roof was to begin with the song “We’ve Never Missed a Sabbath Yet” until Jerome Robbins demanded to know what the show was about in just one word (tradition of course!). Rodgers and Hammerstein tried to write My Fair Lady and declared it impossible. Every producer of West Side Story backed out after attending one rehearsal. Come learn about the fascinating origins of this uniquely American art form. How did we get from Showboat to Hamilton and how did this “tradition” get started? We’ll tell you!
You’ll receive a zoom link 24-hours prior to your class.
