Black Out Night
May 26 at 8pm
Join us for an evening of celebrating and amplifying greater access to theatre for Black identifying audiences! This is an intentional, exciting creation of an environment in which an audience, self-identifying as Black, can come together and experience a performance in community. After the show, audience members are welcome to attend a social mixer. Light refreshments will be served. Tickets must be obtained in advance.
Black Out Night aligns with BRT’S Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Plans (more here) which are drawn from the fact that BRT has long prided itself not just on being a theatre at the center of a community, but having community at the center of our theatre. However, there is more work to be done to ensure that the community at our center is inclusive. Therefore, our DEI initiatives run through all BRT programs including the mainstage season, presented series, concert series, and education programs.
The intention of Black Out Night is to create a space for as many Black-identifying audience members as possible. Unlike Black Out Nights in some other venues, this event is open to the public and any ticketed patron is welcome.
