Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Plans

BRT has long prided itself not just on being a theatre at the center of a community, but having community at the center of our theatre. In light of the national dialogue on race, we realize there is more work to be done to ensure that the community at our center is inclusive. Our work has already begun and will continue with the following actions:

– working with a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) consultant, based in Bristol, to develop a three-year DEI plan

– anti-racism and bias awareness training for staff, board, and volunteers;

– obtaining an outside DEI assessment;

– unconscious bias training for staff and board;

– ensuring our organization better reflects the demographics of the community in which we work;

– a commitment to producing and elevating the work of artists of color;

– conducting an anti-racism reading group among our board of trustees;

– conducting monthly facilitated anti-racism sessions for staff, personally funded by Co-Producing Directors, while longer term funds are raised.
