Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Plans

BRT has long prided itself not just on being a theatre at the center of a community, but having community at the center of our theatre. However, there is more work to be done to ensure that the community at our center is inclusive. The following work is ongoing:

– BRT is in the midst of a three year DEI plan, developed with The Highmark Group, which includes audits of individuals departments, development of metrics to assess our ongoing work, training for staff, board, and volunteers, and ad hoc work as requested by staff;

– ensuring that our staff, board, and volunteers better reflect the demographics of the community in which we work through improved job posting and interviewing practices;

– a commitment to producing and elevating the work of artists of color; and

– ensuring that DEI initiatives run through all BRT programs including the mainstage season, presented series, concert series, and education programs
