A Leg Up

A World Premiere

By Ken Kaissar • Directed by Amy Kaissar

May 12 – 31, 2020 Charles’ family money is gone, and his rich wife wants a divorce. His future rests on the new XR-3000, an intelligent prosthetic leg designed for a US Senator. Unfortunately, the malfunctioning leg is randomly kicking people, Charles’ Ukrainian maid is threatening to quit, his bisexual mistress announces she’s pregnant, his transgender business partner has her eye on his wife, the Senator is having an affair with the gay robotic engineer, and it’s not even lunchtime yet.

In light of recent events and the latest recommendations from experts and officials regarding COVID-19, Bristol Riverside Theatre has CANCELLED all performances of A LEG UP in the 2019-20 season. We are very hopeful that we will be able to bring the show to you in the near future. But it won’t be this May.

We are so delighted to have patrons who are excited to see world premieres. And we were incredibly excited to bring you this play that we have been developing for over four years. But, the health of our patrons, actors, and staff is our highest priority.

If you had tickets to A LEG UP, you should have received a call, email, or letter in the mail. If not, please call the BRT box office at 215-785-0100. Our front of house team is working diligently to answer and return calls as quickly as possible. You may also email tickets@brtstage.org for more information.

In light of this moment, we’re asking you to consider exchanging your ticket for a voucher credit to a future show. Or, if you are able, please consider turning your ticket purchase into a tax-deductible donation to the theatre.

This is an uncertain time, but we’ll get through it together. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.

We’ll see you at the theatre very soon!

Stay well,

Keith Baker,
Artistic Director
