Clementine in the Lower Nine
By Dan Dietz
Clementine in the Lower Nine is a blues riff on Aeschylus' tragedy Agamemnon. The author's goal with the play is to weave together the larger-than life world of Greek myth with the harsh realities of life in post-Katrina New Orleans, creating a play that truly reflects the size of the emotions surrounding the catastrophe. The Chorus, a blues musician serves as our guide through this story. Through his monologues and his music, he sets the tone for the play -- humorous and mournful, sultry and sad.
