DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT


POSITION OBJECTIVE:  The Development Assistant provides comprehensive administrative support in fundraising to the development staff and producing director, while maintaining all collateral material used by the office for individual donor solicitations and grants. Candidate is responsible for overseeing and updating databases for foundations as well as individual donors; communicating, both verbally and in writing, with current and prospective donors; planning several donor cultivation events each year; and assisting the development staff in other ways as necessary.  This fast-paced position involves meticulous record keeping (on paper and in databases) related to meetings, grant applications and donor communication; assisting in the writing of grant proposals and individual solicitations; and event planning for donor cultivation events and meetings.  The candidate must be detail-oriented, highly organized, personable, independent and a competent multi-tasker.  Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously is essential.  Excellent opportunity to learn the basics of fundraising in a growing arts organization that receives support from numerous public and private sources. 

 

REPORTS TO: Development/Outreach Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Enter and maintain donor information in relational database

• Enter and maintain grant application information, and tracking of results and reporting, in database and hard copy
• Oversee gift acknowledgment and stewardship for BRT core programs and sponsored projects
• Research funding prospects and maintain prospect files
• Assist with direct mail solicitation and publications that support the development process

• Plan and assist with special events

• Participate in the donor cultivation and stewardship process by communicating with individual donors

• In conjunction with development staff, help regularly set and review priorities and plans for fundraising, and closelyadhere to deadlines in order to meet fundraising goals. 
• Other duties and special projects as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS
• Highly proficient in word processing, including mail merges and editing large documents

• Demonstrated writing and editing skills

• Experience with at least one relational database software, such as MS Access or Filemaker Pro, as well as spreadsheet software.

• Exceptional organizational abilities, including the ability to divide projects into tasks, develop work plans to accomplish them.• Excellent verbal communication skills, including outgoing personality and diplomacy in dealing with the public and donors.

Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and in a fast-paced work environment where both speed and accuracy is essential.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

• Ability to work some nights and weekends.

• Driver’s License.

• B.A. degree or higher.
• At least one year experience in fundraising preferred.

GROUP SALES MANAGER

Bristol Riverside Theatre seeks a full time Group Sales Manager, whose responsibilities include increasing group and student matinee sales for a nine-show season. Identify potential groups, serve existing groups, establish rapport with current clients and develop relationships with new ones. Coordinate mailings. Develop and maintain group sales database.  Sales experience with outstanding people skills, strategic planning and fact-finding skills a must. Knowledge of and/or interest in theatre or non-profits a plus. Responsibilities include: Incoming and outgoing sales calls, uncovering new contacts and demographics for sales, highest level of customer service, maintaining group databases, coordinating all group sales activities, and to develop an aggressive group sales marketing plan. Candidates must be fun, self-motivated individuals who enjoy a busy and creative work environment.

 

This position is directly responsible for generating sales and increasing the visibility of Bristol Riverside Theatre. The Group Sales Manager will build the group sales client base through research on local groups, the use of current group lists and cold calls. The Group Sales Manager will also solicit new accounts, follow-up on leads and make presentations to potential patrons.  In addition, the Group Sales Manager will work with the staff to create appealing package experiences for our patrons (i.e., restaurants, ground transportation, tours, etc.).  Only dynamic and outgoing candidates with a love of theatre and superior communication, written and oral and customer service skills should apply.

PRODUCTION POSITIONS
BRISTOL RIVERSIDE THEATRE, an Equity LOA theatre, located on the Delaware River twenty miles north of Philadelphia, annually accepts resumes for potential vacancies in its PRODUCTION STAFF. Successful candidates will be organized self-starters, strong communicators, and hard-working team members who are willing to accept challenges in BRT’s continuing artistic growth. All employees will report to the Production Manager. These seasonal positions run early September through late May, with possible year-round employment depending on the Theatre’s summer season needs. BRT produces a five-show Main Stage season and a Holiday Concert, with a handful of Special Events presentations.


2007-2008 Season:


MASTER ELECTRICIAN
The ME will be responsible for hangs, circuiting, focus, programming for each of the five shows in the regular season and the winter concert. Additional responsibilities include communication with production manager, lighting designers, attending production meetings, care and maintenance of house lighting equipment as necessary. This is a per-show contractual position. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a strong desire to work as part of a team.

 
SOUND ENGINEER

The sound engineer will be responsible for preparing/creating sound plots, music & effects for each of the five shows in the regular season and the winter concert, set-up and breakdown of equipment for tech and run of show and running of shows including mixing levels of musicals. Additional responsibilities include communication with production manager, director, attending production meetings, care and maintenance of house audio equipment as necessary. This is a per-show contractual position. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter with a strong desire to work as part of a team.
 

Overhire Technicians
Accepting resumes for local carpenters, electricians, scenic assistants, stitchers, and props runners.  Work varies from four week run crew positions to occasional single day carpentry or lighting assistance.  Schedules fluctuate: some weekends, some late night calls.  Hourly pay commensurate with experience.
