RYAN O’GARA WINS OUTSTANDING LIGHTING DESIGN FOR BRT’S PRODUCTION OF MAN OF LA MANCHA

Bristol Riverside Theatre is proud to announce that Ryan O’Gara won the Barrymore Award for Outstanding Lighting Design for BRT’s production of Man of La Mancha. The Award was presented at the annual ceremony on October 24 at the Merriam Theatre. Man of La Mancha had also received two additional nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical (Danny Rutigliano) and Outstanding Costume Design (Linda Bee Stockton). This brings BRT’s total Barrymore Awards to 5 wins and 84 nominations.

Ryan O’Gara began his career in theater as an intern for Susan D. Atkinson at BRT. In accepting the Barrymore Award, O’Gara enthused, “I owe my life to BRT. They got me off the streets and kept me off the streets!”  In addition to designing productions at BRT, O’Gara has served Associate Lighting Designer for the Broadway productions of Hamilton, A Bronx Tale, and Honeymoon in Vegas.  In addition to designing lights for thirteen productions at BRT, he has also worked at Walnut Street Theatre, Signature Theatre, and Capital Repertory Theatre.

BRT’s 30th anniversary season continues with Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Uhry on January 24-February 12, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Jesus Christ Superstar on March 21-April 16 and Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution on May 9-28.

Since 1986, BRT has brought consistently acclaimed professional theatre to Bucks County and maintains a long-term commitment to finding and developing new plays. In addition to its mainstage productions, the theatre serves as a cultural hub for the community, with such programs as children’s theatre, community concerts and exhibitions of local visual arts. Currently under the direction of Artistic Director Keith Baker, Founding Director Susan D. Atkinson, and Managing Director Anne Kohn, BRT continues its 30th anniversary season.  For information, visit www.brtstage.org
