April 10, 2017 A painter comes home, to Lebanon, to the beginning of a civil war. Her work is no longer selling and she cannot afford to be anywhere else. She took her adopted daughter to forget the loss of friends and family in the olive trees surrounding her house. Her mother’s ghost will not let her forget the events and the questions it raised. The leader of a local militia has plans of his own for her property and threatens more violence. To paint again she must deal with her feelings, her memories, and her dead mother’s sharp tongue.
Will tragedy strike the olive grove again, does the past always live in the present, and can an artist flourish in a war zone?
All these questions are asked in the House of Olives.
