Philip Chaffin was honored with a Grammy nomination in 2016 for producing the cast recording of Broadway’s Tony Award-winning Best Musical Fun Home. This was his third nomination, following nods for Sondheim on Sondheim in 2011 and Follies in 2013. Philip is thrilled to be celebrating his 17th season at Bristol Riverside Theatre, after making his debut with the company way back in 1999 in Brigadoon. He made his Broadway debut in 1997 in the world premiere of Alan Menken and Tim Rice’s King David, and since then has worked steadily in and around New York. His most recent solo album, Somethin’ Real Special (The Songs of Dorothy Fields), featuring such standards as “The Way You Look Tonight,” “I’m in the Mood for Love” and “Don’t Blame Me,” was released in the fall of 2014, graced several “year’s best” lists, and prompted write-ups in The Huffington Post and USA Today. When he’s not performing, Philip runs the record label PS Classics, which is devoted to preserving the legacy of Broadway and the Great American Songbook; the label has received nine Grammy nominations.
